I have always believed that Mary should have been shown as a very young, dark skinned girl who took on the weight of the world when the angel announced to her that she would bear the only child of God. What would that do to a person, a mother and a young one at that? I had to dress Nana in a veil and just had her look at me with those eyes of hers. I didn't tell her to think about what I was thinking about. I just told her to not smile. I think this is a powerful piece that gives us a glimpse into the possible past.

My full name is Jodie Marie Anne Richardson Traugott. I use my initials jm-ART and/or my tattoo of a star as my signature. Although I never liked art through high school, I "discovered" it in my early 20's and have never stopped creating since. Photography is my latest love, but I've been a painter for over 50 years.
