Description
This is a painting that I did that had no preconceived idea. I just painted. I knew I wanted to do an abstracted female figure. But it was only after I painted it that I realized what it was all about. This represents birth. The female is laying on the rigid orange/red slab which along with the sharp pointed lines going into and around her show the pain involved. The one sharp line that hits just below her breast is the one that the child itself will inflict upon the parent, as all children do at least once in their lives. It is the only one that casts a shadow, as it will linger with her always. She is prone with her red hot legs up in the air, and her arms up to grasp for help. The top right corner shows the egg and sperm meeting and falling into the rich womb. The pinks and blues represent the two "normal" colors for the baby about to be born. The triangle above her shows the home she will take the baby to. The warm body is broken up by the one cool spot of lavender/gray. It represents the core of the woman's being where she knows she will be fine. She is calm and confident that she will be able to handle this new challenge in her life.
